The consultant uses his experience in different situations. In an audit the consultant will collect and evaluate data in order to have a clear understanding of the AS-IS situation/processes. From that point, and bearing in mind best practices, the consultant will propose accurate should-be processes.

New approaches can be launched as an answer to different problem situations. This requires an excellent understanding of the organization. Advice will be given on structure, number of Full Time Equivalents, in order to optimize the IM processes.
